Corporations Leading the Way?

Corporations have an invested interest in doing everything they can to protect the middle class. The middle class is the foundation of many corporations in the United States. Granted, there will always be corporations that will rape the middle class (big oil and banking come to mind). However, there is massive section of our economy that thrives and dies based on how much money the middle class has in its pocket.

The industries that thrive on the middle class are in all sections of the economy. Right now Olive Garden and their mother company Darden Restaurants are feeling the pinch (as well as other companies like them). People do not want to spend money they do not have. People are working harder and harder for their money and they do not want to blow 50 or 60 dollars on one meal. This is only the beginning! People are not going to buy gym memberships, high end electronics, etc if they cannot even buy food. No one will pay 150 dollars for sneakers or 40 dollars for a bra from Victoria's Secret if they cannot afford basics.

Corporations have all the muscle in the new Oligarchy that is the United States. Corporations have an incentive to keep the middle class healthy against the big banks, big oil, and anyone that wants to rape the class that feeds them. Corporations that have the muscle to fight this destruction of the middle class have to start stepping up or there is a big possibility that they might just watch their customers stop spending on new goods and services! The foundation of goods and services based corporations is tied directly to how much money the American middle class has to spend on those goods and services.

Corporations not only need to keep the current middle class healthy, but can expand their profits by fighting for programs that raise the lower classes into the middle class. The middle class is the customer base of most of these goods and service based companies. So, how do companies expand this customer base? Companies that sell goods and services could double their customer base right here at home by using their muscle to fight for programs that expand the middle class and raising up the people in the lower classes, rural communities, and poverty areas into the spending middle class.

The solution has to begin with education. It is basic economics that as a demand increases, then so will the supply. Our televisions are loaded with reality stars becoming wealthy overnight by being idiots. Therefore, the supply of idiots is increasing faster than the supply of intellectuals, scientists, and engineers. This presents a big problem for companies looking to recruit top talent. Companies are always looking for top talent to lead and reinvent the company for higher profits. Top talents are not around every corner and it takes time and effort (both from the student and college) to turn a student into a top talent. If companies want top talent to further their companies, then they have to be willing to invest in education to create the supply of top talent that companies demand.

Trickery Takes All

"Appear weak when you are strong, and strong when you are weak." - Art of War

People that are strong get targeted by jealous people. The strongest always gets attacked when someone else wants the top spot. This has happened throughout politics, history, and high school gossiping. Appearing weak and telling "flaws" about yourself keeps you appearing human and weak. This keeps jealous people from attacking and allows you to save time and energy for real enemies.

Appearing weak also make you a wonderful temptation for those that real hate you. People are like sharks and they attack when they smell blood in the water. If you do not believe me, then think back to high school gossiping. It can ruthless sometimes! People that really hate you will come out of the wood work on the attack when they smell blood, which is why you want to appear weak when you have the firepower to take them down.

Appearing strong is important to keep attacks at bay. Sharks and people attack when they smell blood in the water, which is why you want to trap them into attack you while you have muscle to deal with them. However, there will come a time in everyone's life when they do not have the fire power or high ground. This is when appearing strong will pay off. People will not attack if they think it will cost them greatly. Appearing strong when you are weak will keep enemies guessing about how much attacking will cost them. The key is to put up a smoke screen they will believe or in a way that they will not want to call your bluff.

Rethink Your World

Everyone should read fiction. Fiction trains the imagination. So, how is fiction valid in reality? Simple, everything in our world is a product of the human imagination. If it did not come from nature, then it came from the human imagination.

The design of your clothes, the socially construction concepts of right and wrong, every building you've ever been in, the socially constructed "rules" of how we interact with each other. Okay, but why is this important? If this world can be imagined, then it can be re-imagined.

Dwelling on Isaiah 55:9

I've been dwelling on Isaiah 55:9 recently. "As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts."

I've always thought of the verse as a put down to humans, but I think I was wrong. Humans are capable of amazing things. Yet, our knowledge is limited to our worldview in our culture, in our time period, on our planet (Think about for a second). This renders our capacity very limited, because we are strapped into the concept of time, cultural worldview, social economic status, geographical location of our birth- and all of these thoughts are limited to a single planet out of an entire galaxy.

Wolf Among Sheep

Never listen to what people say, because people say lots of things. What did they do?

Do they show up for work on time, or just keep promising?

Does your partner call you sweet names like "baby" or "my strong man", but still breaks your heart daily?

Do they talk tough, then act like a teddy bear?

Do they talk sweetly, then hurt all in their way?

Stop listening to the words of their voices and start listening the actions of their behavior!

Life becomes much easier when you stop listening to gossip rumors, what people say, and what they want you to think about them (their public image).

Everyone has their reasons why they say what they say, but we cannot hide who we are. This is why people will always tell you who they are if you listen close enough.

The modern world is filled with people that act civilized, but there is nothing "civilized" about the civilized world. Every day is one battle after another to survive in this sin filled and corrupt world.

"All warfare is based on deception" -Art of War

"You have enemies? Good. That means you've stood up for something, sometime in your life"                       -Winston S. Churchill

It's the Thought that Counts

Men buy things for women as a symbol of their love, but most men go wrong by thinking it's the thing that counts. Women are after the love, attention, and thought behind the item. This means that the item itself is irrelevant. This has led me to the conclusion that men that brag about how expensive the gift they gave their wife/girlfriend is not about the wife, but about showing off their masculinity.

Women are after the love, attention, and thought behind the item. Therefore, why not just give her love and attention. Most women are not after men for their money, and this is becoming more true in an age of women's equality in the work force (If a woman does just want you for what she can get, then you might not want her) Why not just cut to the chase and give her the attention she is after? Write her a poem to show you're thinking about her when she does not expect it instead of when you're in trouble.

Government Spending out of Control, But So Do You!

The saddest part of the modern world is that a lot of big banks have figured out how to use "soft imperialism" tactics to rake in massive profits. Granted, the tactics were modified a little. However, the concept of power and control is still the same.

The answer to fighting the oligarchy is to keep America free under code of law, then have a nation wide attitude change toward working together and financial responsibility. Americans (as of right now) are still free under code of law. If you do not owe the oligarchy anything, then they will have nothing to control you with.

Banks want to make money. A population that is financially responsible will still have the banks making plenty of money. Banks benefit from a responsible nation, but they get blinded by quick profits a lot (see "Addicted to Power"). Ayn Rand put it best when she talked about how all humans do what is in their own best interest.

Real change has to start from the ground up. Americans spend wildly out of control and have large amounts of credit card debt, then get mad at the government for spending wildly out of control. The problem is a nation wide attitude toward money. The people need to start working together, getting their finances under control, then demand the government do the same.

The Thrill of Control

I've come to the conclusion that players/seductresses that chase others for sex, then leave them right after they get their way are not interested in sex.

If a woman/man is comfortable enough with a partner to have sex once, then there is a high chance that there will be a second time. If there there is a second time, then there is a very high chance of a third, fourth, etc.

The fact that people get what they want, then leave to go out to find others shows that sex is not the goal. If sex was the goal, then they would have stayed were they were.

The thrill of the chase is not about sex, but about control. Being a player/seductress is about honing your smooth talking until you can convince anyone to give you what you want. This is what players/seductresses are after.

Being a player (male version) or a seductress (female version) is about using words, sexually desired behavior, etc to evoke emotions that control or get the person addicted too your attention.

This is why the "The Thrill of the Chase" is abusive to a certain extent, because it is not based in love or even natural lust for sex.

The "Thrill of the Chase" is a cold and calculating game of putting people in a mental or emotional box to control them in order to get your way.

Players and seductresses do not stick around after them get what they want, because getting their way is the win- and why would a person stick around after they already got the win?

Triple Punch of Bad Health

I've come to the conclusion that America has the perfect triple punch of bad health. Americans have high stress, unhealthy diet, and no exercise.

I think that it is these combined elements that are destroying us. I think Americans have gone wrong in thinking that fixing one to two areas will solve it. We need to look at the whole.

Other cultures work just as hard as Americans, but are not as stressed out as we are. Other cultures eat high fat diets, but do not deal with the same health problems we deal with. All cultures need exercise.

So, what has gone wrong with our system that has given rise to such an unhealthy population? There are many solutions and ways of thinking about this, but I would argue that we need to start looking at the whole instead of just the pieces.

A high stress lifestyle will take a toll on your life regardless of how much a person exercises. A bad diet will take a toll regardless of how low stress your life- I yield these points.

However, Americans seem to have all of these unhealthy elements in our lives all the time. This has created a dangerous combination for our healthy. This is why we need to start looking at the whole as interconnected and all effecting the other elements.

The Purpose of Law

Lawyers are a direct reflection of the causes the culture hires them to fight for. Lawyers can only argue with the sociology, legal codes, and cultural codes that already exist.

The purpose of law is to give people an outlet for their grievances without them taking matters into their own hands. This keeps society so called "civilized".

Criminal Courts keep people from taking revenge into their hands; Civil Courts give people an outlet without taking blows at each other; and Business Courts allow companies to fight each other without raising private armies (it happened in the middle ages!)

Lawyers are trained rhetoric mercenaries of the courts. Make no mistake, Lawyers might be polite and educated, but they are trained strategists fighting for whoever hired them.

People think that Lawyers are powerful, but this is not true. Lawyers can only argue what is already there and are merely fighting for the causes they are hired for.

If you really care about a cause in this world, then put together a fund to hire lawyers. The environment, more literature or science in schools, or your individual rights as Americans. I promise that lawyers will have a strategy put together to fight for your cause by the time the ink is dry on their check.

Lawyers are not good or bad. Lawyers are whatever society asks them to become. If you want to make society better, then start hiring lawyers to fight for the causes you believe make society a better place to live.

The key to this is to start a group or get involved with a group that fights for causes that you are interested in. The NRA for gun rights, NRDC for the environment issues, and most recently groups have been started that are hiring lawyers to fight for the legalization of marijuana.

What is Truth?

What is truth?

In economics, the numbers add up or they don't.

In politics, the strategies either or work or they don't.

In History, the facts can be checked or they can't.

There is what we believe and what we don't; There is what we can prove and what we can't. However, is there such a thing as truth in this world of confusion?

The Answer to Bullying

Bullying has a simple operating concept. Logically, there has to an inferior for a superior to exist, because the superior has to have something to be superior to. Therefore, the key to becoming superior is to create an inferior. This is how bullying works.

The natural reaction to this is to try to become the superior when people try to make you into an inferior by escalating the violence, gossip, or talking others to join in isolation punishment (ignoring) until your dominance is clearly displayed to all. The problem with this natural reaction is that its fighting bullying with bullying.

The reason why fighting bullying with bullying is wrong is that it continues the circle of violence and is not taking the feelings of the person acting out (the bully) into account. Violence is the sound pain makes when it tries to regain control of its life. Any psychologist worth their pay check will sense the crying for attention that acting out is based in.

There is a massive potential that the bully is in as much pain as the people he or she is bullying either physically or verbally. In fact, the bully is most likely not starting the violence, but continuing violence by transferring it onto others in a form of crying for help.

All humans are interconnected, which is why a problem in part of society is all of society's problem. Humans only escalate violence by constantly acting and reacting in violence. To understand this fully we must understand what violence is.

Violence is the most basic form of control. The control is simple and logical "do what I say or I'll verbally, emotionally, or physically hurt you". The concept of violence is the most basic form of control we have. The ability to put others in pain and the control that comes with that is violence.

Violence is no more than control. Control is based in power, therefore, we need to understand power. Power is based the ability to influence people with or without their consent. This can be done with violence, money, or other means of mental or emotional control.

The difference between discipline and abuse can be found in how power is used. Authority is a person that uses power to correct a behavior which society has agreed can't exist (murder, stealing, cheating on tests, etc). Abuses start when power in of itself is the goal instead of a means to an end. This was talked about in my blog post "Addicted to Power".

This is both why concepts of authority and power are both needed and corrupt. Positions of power are suppose to protect us, but are still run by humans that are have the ability to become power hungry. For all have fallen short of the glory of God. Humans are both the creators and victims of the societies they create.

There is another way to deal with bullying at all levels of society. Dealing with bullying is not about retaliating or continuing the superiority/inferiority complex that drives violence, but about having enough respect for yourself, your ideas, and your emotions to not let others hurt you. It's not about pushing back, because we are all interconnected; it's about having enough respect for yourself to not let others push you down.

What is Intelligence?

Am I intelligent if other people say I am?

Am I intelligent if tests say I am?

Am I intelligent if I'm well read or am I just well read?

There are many ways to measure intelligence. However, what good is intelligence without the courage to act on your thoughts and ideas; what good is courage without wisdom?

Addicted to Power

I've been thinking about the concept of money. Money changes from time period to time period. Money in the early Colonies was tobacco; money has been gold, silver, cash, check, and now digital. Money has been fought over. Countries have sent men to die for money. People have spent a lifetime working for money. This has led me to think that there is more to money than money itself.

I've been mediating on what could be the deeper meaning. My mind dwelled on this until I remembered when I dwelled on the concept of "discipline vs abuse" and I believe the conclusion is the same. I came to the conclusion that discipline is power used to correct behaviors that are mutually beneficial to the group (don't murder, steal, cheat on tests, etc). Abuse of power begins when power itself becomes the object; when power is no longer a tool in the authority's tool box, but the object itself is when abuses of power begin.

Money is the same way. Money is an access point to the goods and services we need to survive and thrive. Therefore, money is a blessing to our lives by raising our standard of living by gaining more of it. Saved money provides stability in hard times. Yet, money causes abuses to happen when the money itself becomes the objective. The purpose of money is to make trade easier for humans and life better by raising standards of living. However, where is the point between money being a means to an end (better living) and being the end itself (the goal). Another way to put this is when do we stop using money to live, thrive, and gain stability; but start living to make money.

The reason I thought about both power and money at the same time was because politics and economics are the same thing. Politics is the art of power; power is the ability to influence others; the main reason people use influence is to get money. Therefore, politics and economics go together at every level of our society.

All this thinking has led to me a simple series of questions. If money and power operate on the same concepts and people can get addicted to power, then can they get addicted to money? If yes, then what is the addiction? Is the addiction status, power, attention, or something else? What is the addiction to money that drives our world?

What is Education?

What is Education?

Am I educated because I have a degree from Veritas Classical and soon will have a degree from Georgia Gwinnett College?

Am I educated because I have close to 400 books in my private collection and working to expand it to 500 by graduation? (I spend a lot of money buying books from amazon)

Am I educated because I spend my spare time watching History, Psychology, and Theology lectures online?

There are many ways to judge education. Education is all about exchanging and thinking about ideas. It is this exchange of ideas that advances societies. This can be done in many formats. It can be done in author to reader (books, articles, etc); it can be done in researcher to listener (lectures), and in friendly conversation.
